BLUE STAR Ceremony

The Blue Star was originated by the American Legion and was adopted by the Department of Defense as an official Military Service Award. It serves to recognize the sacrifice of the families of servicemen and servicewomen that have served during times of War both at home and abroad. The families are awarded the Blue Star Banner to display in the window of their homes. This display serves to remind each member of the many communities across America of the sacrifice made by the family members here at home that must continue their lives without their soldier during times of deployment. Each Soldier and their immediate family may be recognized and awarded this banner one time. During this year’s Operation Military Appreciation Day, we will be recognizing the soldiers and their families who served and sacrificed during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
